VIJAYAWADA: AP-CID officials began grilling TD chief N. Chandrababu Naidu in connection with the AP skill development scam at the office of Special Investigation Team (SIT) in Kunchanapalli from around 5 pm on Saturday.

Officials presented a questionnaire with 20 queries seeking details but Naidu has reportedly not been cooperating.

His wife Bhuvaneswari, son Lokesh, daughter in-law Brahmana, and TD MLAs Balakrishna and Ramakrishna were allowed inside the SIT office to meet Naidu. However, as the questioning went late into the night, barring Lokesh and Balakrishna, all other family members left the place.

As Naidu is supposed to be produced before the ACB special court within 24 hours from the time of his arrest (he was arrested in Nandyal at 6 am), the CID authorities may produce him before the court in the early hours of Sunday soon after the completion of their inquiry.

Meanwhile, authorities are making arrangements for conducting medical tests on Naidu on the court premises itself instead of taking him to the government hospital.

Naidu’s counsel built the case against the arrest mainly on two grounds — one that he was the chief minister when the decision was taken and the Governor should give his consent to initiate investigation. Secondly, they contended that the alleged offence related to a policy decision taken by the Cabinet.

Naidu’s counsel kept ready a petition seeking refusal of remand by the designated court.
