No Political Vengeance in Naidu Arrest, Says YSRC

Vijayawada: The ruling YSR Congress Government claimed that Telugu Desam chief Nara Chandrababu Naidu’s arrest was not politically motivated and that it was thoroughly probed. Government Advisor (public affairs) Sajjala Ramakrishna Reddy addressing a press meet at the party office in Tadepalli on Saturday said that in this case, Naidu was arrested only after the police had strong evidence. He called the skill development scam as the worst deep-rooted economic offence in the history of Independent India.

Ramakrishna Reddy said, "This case has been going on since 2011. In the Income Tax notice too, there was clinching evidence. The CID officials are only arresting Naidu for further questioning after strong evidence was gathered against him. YSRC has no intention to do any politics. It is Naidu who is making this political in the last one week. He has been saying for the last one week that he would be arrested to evoke sympathy. Due process of the law has to be followed.”

Refuting allegations of political vengeance behind Naidu’s arrest, Ramakrishna Reddy stated that this is not like DMK chief Karunananidhi case. He clarified that Naidu was not arrested at midnight and he was arrested in broad daylight. He claimed that there is no need for Jagan to arrest him for political reasons. Ramakrishna Reddy stated that if we had intentions to arrest him politically, we could have done that when Jagan came to power in 2019. He added that there are merits in the case.
