Maoists Brutally Kill 8th BJP Leader in Chhattisgarh within a Year in Bastar Attack

RAIPUR: Maoists on Saturday brutally killed a local BJP leader in Narayanpur district under Bastar in Chhattisgarh by slitting his throat, police said.

Kamal Majhi was abducted by a group of four-five Maoists when he was returning to home after visiting the local temple in his village of Mundatikra under Chhote Dangar area in the morning and taken to the nearby jungle where the ultras hacked him to death, police said.

The Maoists then threw his body on the outskirts of the village.

Narayanpur district additional superintendent of police Hem Sagar Siddar said that a search operation has been launched in the area to nab the accused.

Manjhi was the eighth BJP leader to have been killed by Maoists in the state in the past one year.

On February five this year, local BJP leader Neelkanth Kakem was killed by Maoists in Awapalli in Bijapur district under Bastar.

Five days later, local BJP leader Sagar Sahu was killed by Naxals in Narayanpur district.

On February 11 this year, local BJP leader Ramdhar Alami was killed by Maoists in Dantewada district under Bastar.

On March 29 this year, local BJP leader Ramji Dodi was killed by Maoists in Narayanpur district.

On June 21 this year, local BJP leader Arjun Kaka was killed by ultras in Bijapur district.

On October 30, local BJP leader Birchu Taram was shot dead by Maoists in Mohalla-Manpur area, adjoining Bastar.

On November four, local BJP leader Ratan Dubey was killed by Maoists in Narayanpur district.
