Renuka Chowdhury moves privilege motion
Rijiju said that he failed to comprehend in what way he had insulted women's dignity.
Hyderabad: Congress MP Renuka Chowdhury on Friday moved a privilege notice against Union minister of state for home Kiren Rijiju for posting a video on his Facebook page showing Prime Minister Narendra Modi making a sarcastic remark about her in Parliament.
Defending his post, Mr Rijiju said that he was only showing how the Prime Minister did not get annoyed at the “vexatious” laugh Ms Chowdhury let out at something the Prime Minister said during his speech in the Rajya Sabha.
Ms Chowdhury reported to have laughed when Mr Modi had claimed that it was BJP patriarch L.K. Advani who had first mooted the idea of the Aadhaar card.
Mr Rijiju said that he failed to comprehend in what way he had insulted women's dignity. He said that he was merely referring to the Prime Minister's “equanimity”.
He said that the Opposit-ion has been saying that Prime Minister Modi’s rem-arks were breach of privilege, but the Rajya Sabha chairman M. Venkaiah Naidu has said that such behaviour by Ms Chowd-hury is unbecoming.
