Congress vows to set limit for income scheme
Targeting Mr Modi, Mr Gandhi said the Prime Minister had made two Hindustans, one for the 15 rich people and the other for the poor.
HYDERABAD: To counter the 10 per cent reservation for the upper caste poor passed by the BJP government, Congress president Rahul Gandhi has said that the Congress, upon forming government at the Centre, will implement a minimum income guarantee scheme whose beneficiaries will not be identified by religion, caste or creed.
Describing some details at a meeting of party workers at Shamshabad, a part of the Chevella Lok Sabha constituency, Mr Gandhi said that the Congress government would decide an income limit and credit a minimum amount to the bank accounts of all the people who were under the limit.
“The Congress will ensure that the scheme covers each and every person in the country. Under this scheme, the government would try to eliminate poverty from the country,” Mr Gandhi said. “Modi will credit the money into the pockets of Nirav Modi and I will credit the money into the pockets of the poor,” he added.
Congress leaders and cadres expected more details from the scheme, that received overwhelming response from the crowd.
Targeting Mr Modi, Mr Gandhi said the Prime Minister had made two Hindustans, one for the 15 rich people and the other for the poor. “I will never let the country be divided in this way. The money looted by people like Nirav Modi and others will be recovered and distributed to the poor. The bank loans of the poor people will be waived. When we demand for a farm loan waiver, finance minister Arun Jaitley says that this is not in their policy,” he said.
