Telangana moving towards golden age': KT Rama Rao

KTR announced various schemes costing Rs 100 crore to Khammam municipal corporation and Rs 52 crore to Madhira municipality.

KHAMMAM: Telangana state is moving towards a golden age with the implementation of different welfare schemes on one side and development projects on another side.

"Telangana, which has emerged from the tears of poor, is spending Rs 5,500 crore for the welfare schemes,” minister for IT and aunicipal administration K. T. Rama Rao said. 

Previously, the pension was Rs 70 and Rs 200 per person and it is Rs 1,000 and Rs 1,500 respectively for the old and differently abled persons. “The birth of a girl child used to be considered as a burden in poor families. The government removed the feeling by in-troducing Shadi Mubarak and Kalyana Laxmi by extending Rs 10,116 to each girl at the time of her marriage,” he said.

KTR said that Telangana is first state in the country to give KCR kit to new-born mothers to promote institution deliveries and the women are being paid Rs 12,000 for male child and Rs 13,000 for the girl child apart from the kit.

KTR inaugurated scores of schemes like 216 DBR houses, MLA quarters and laid foundation stone to Gollapadu Channel modernisation project. “Khammam is being shaped as one of the beautiful towns in Telangana. Sitarama Lift Irrigation Project is a boon to the farmers of Khammam district and 10 lakh acres will be irrigated in the district,” the minister said.
