Hyderabad: A three-year-long feud between an MLA and an MLC of the ruling TRS in Nizamabad district has intensified with one of them seeking a probe by the district collector.

In a letter to the district collector, Nizamabad rural MLA Bajireddy sought a probe into the allegations levelled by his par-ty colleague and MLC R. Bhupathi Reddy against him. The MLC had acc-used the MLA of regularising lands under ‘sada bainama scheme’ introduced by the Telangana government in 2016 after taking bribes from land owners. The sada bainama scheme was introduced to regularise land transactions that were done on plain paper instead of registered deeds decades ago due to the lack of awareness among farmers in villages and remote areas.

The MLA said that he is ready to face consequences if he was proved guilty. If the allegations of the MLC were not proved, he said the collector should initiate action against MLC, who tarnished his image and reputation.

Mr Bhupathi Reddy, however, dismissed the demand for a probe as a mere eyewash. “This is a namesake probe sought by the MLA, who is highly influential. How can a collector to prove corruption allegations and take action against a ruling party MLA?”
