PMK dares Jayalalithaa candidates to debate on manifesto
The election manifesto of the AIADMK general secretary and Chief Minister Jayalalithaa has offered a rash of freebies to the voters
Erode: The PMK leader Dr S Ramadoss has challenged the Chief Ministerial candidates in the Assembly election including AIADMK leader Jayalalithaa and the DMK president M.Karunanidhi to a public debate on the financial implications of their election manifestos and the debt burden it would inflict on the Tamil Nadu government.
The election manifesto of the AIADMK general secretary and Chief Minister Jayalalithaa has offered a rash of freebies to the voters. The DMK president M.Karunanidhi too has offered smart phone freebie to the voters.
“As of now, the debt burden of the Tamil Nadu is a whopping Rs.4.48 lakh crore. If the freebies promised by the AIADMK are given to the people, it will cross Rs.7 lakh crore. So, these freebies cannot be given and they are not feasible.
Knowing fully well that most of the freebies she has offered cannot be given, she has made these promises to woo the voters,” Dr.Ramadoss alleged.
Elections are not a democratic festival in Tamil Nadu, instead it is a “show of moneycracy”, Dr. Ramadoss charged, adding that the AIADMK and the DMK were planning to bribe the voters on the eve of the elections.
The Election Commission has planned to deploy 25 flying squads to check money distribution to voters on the eve of the elections. “But the Election Commission should start deploying the flying squads from now on,” he urged.
