Telangana Rashtra Samithi leaders lose if Congress wins
KCR has tied their promotion to victory of party candidates.
Hyderabad: With the rider of Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, anxiety has gripped TRS leaders over their political future as just two weeks are left for the Lok Sabha results.
The CM has indicated to MLAs looking for ministries and plum posts in the party as well as government that their fate will depend on their performance in the party candidates’ victory in the Lok Sabha polls. He had indicated this prior to the commencement of the campaign for the Lok Sabha elections in March too.
Party working president K.T. Rama Rao also linked the performance of the ministers, MLAs and MLCs in the zilla and mandal parishad elections with their future prospects.
Though they are confident of the party winning and securing large margins of victory in the 16 Lok Sabha seats, now they have cause to worry with the claims of the BJP and Congress of winning the Secunderabad, Nalgonda, Bhongir, Chevella, Peddapalle and Mahbubnagar seats.
BJP and Congress leaders claim that as far as the Assembly elections are concerned it was a fight between Mr Rao and the Opposition parties, but where the Lok Sabha polls are concerned it is a fight between Prime Minister Modi and Congress president Rahul Gandhi. The people are well aware of this fact and voted for the national parties, they said.
In their private conversations, TRS leaders admit that the trend as claimed by the Congress and BJP was visible among some voters on polling day for the Lok Sabha. They worry that if the percentage of this kind of voters is more, their political future will be certainly in danger.
They are also worried over the backlash for the zilla and mandal parishad elections as polling for these seats has been taking place after the Intermediate results fiasco which led to protests after many students ended their lives.
