Warangal: The Dalita Girijana Simha Garjana public meeting called by Dalit, Adivasi and Lambada outfits on June 10 will send a strong political message to the BJP, said Madiga Reservation Porata Samiti (MRPS) president Manda Krishna Madiga.

He said the meeting was meant to oppose the dilution of the SC and ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act by the BJP government and press the demand to include the Act in the Ninth Schedule of the Constitution which would place it beyond judicial review.

Addressing mediapersons at the meeting venue at Prakashreddypet in Hanamkonda on Saturday, he said the BJP was “misusing its power to suppress Dalits and tribals  with its fascist methods”. He said the people would not keep quiet when someone was trying to sabotage them.

“We will fight back for self-respect. Violent protests arose in the northern states immediately after the Supreme Court ruling on March 30 and 11 people died,” he recalled.

Mr Krishna noted that they were not spending money or distributing liquor to attract people to this public meeting which is scheduled to begin at 4 pm. “We are not providing transport, food or even water because we do not have the resources. I appeal to all the people who want to fight for their self-respect to turn up on their own accord. Make your own arrangements of food, water and transport. Bring an umbrella in case the weather turns unfavourable,” he said.

National leaders like Mallikarjun Kharge, former Speaker Meira Kumar, CPM leader Sitaram Yechury, MIM president Asaduddin Owaisi, Prof. M. Kodandaram are expected to attend the meeting.
