Muralidhar Rao likens BRS govt to organised corruption racket

HYDERABAD: The BJP on Saturday mounted trenchant criticism on the BRS government in Telangana and Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao, calling the governance model in the state one that represents “organised, institutionalised, orchestrated and structured corruption”.

Senior BJP leader and former national party general secretary P. Muralidhar Rao, addressing a press conference in the city, said the governance is marked by Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao’s “discretion-based and erratic-and-whimsical-bad” governance.

“In Telangana, what rules the roost are family-run politics with power centred in it, and an erratic government that has ensured disappearance of any semblance of accountability on part of the BRS government and the Chief Minister,” Muralidhar Rao said.

“In contrast, the BJP government at the Centre led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in the last nine years, provided governance whose hallmarks were good governance, a participatory and representative government that represents democracy, social participation and accountability. These can be seen in the number of ministers in the Union cabinet from different sections of the society, implementation of direct benefit transfer, along with emphasis on minimum government maximum governance,” he said.

Answering questions on the goings-on in the state BJP and reported differences among senior leaders, Muralidhar Rao declared that the party was fully united and that there was no difference among leaders.

“(We all have one goal to) Ensure that KCR, who is a symbol of bad governance in the country must go, along with the BRS party. This is what the BJP is working towards under the party leadership. This is the only campaign of everyone in the BJP and there are no other campaigns,” he said.

Muralidhar Rao further said the Dharani portal represents everything that was wrong with the BRS government, claiming that the portal was used to settle land disputes by ruling party leaders. “This government has rate cards for corruption, for transfers and postings, the shares go to the MLAs and the ruling party. The Telangana government runs an organised, institutionalised, and orchestrated and well-structured system of corruption,” he said.

The BJP, he said, during the ongoing Maha Jan Sampark Abhiyan, is explaining the contrasting styles of governance of the Modi government at the Centre and the BRS government. “The people are the final judges and the BJP is informing them…We are confident that the BJP will come to power in Telangana,” he said.
