Human life more sacred than cow protection: Ram Madhav
Mr Madhav also deplored the gender bias in society saying that even today, families differentiate between boys and girls.
Bengaluru: Cow vigilantism has come under fire from none other than BJP National General Secretary Mr Ram Madhav, who said that cow protection was sacred, but people should remember that human life was more sacred than anything else.
Speaking at an Awareness in Action' programme organised as part of Gurupurnima celebration here on Sunday, Mr Madhav said that India was a sacred land and its sanctity should be rightly understood. While cow protection was a sacred task, taking a life in the name of cow protection is not acceptable. Life is more sacred according to our culture, one cannot take one life on any pretext, he asserted.
Mr Madhav also deplored the gender bias in society saying that even today, families differentiate between boys and girls. If a girl child comes back home after seven in the evening, she may have to answer a 100 questions. However, if the boy comes home even after midnight, the parents are anxious to know whether he had dinner or not. Such attitudes do not reflect Indian culture, he added.
