Hyderabad: The Congress on Monday alleged that Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao extending complete support to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's idea of holding simultaneous elections to the Lok Sabha and state Assemblies exposed the 'secret pact' between the BJP and the TRS yet again.

Senior Congress leader Mallu Ravi said the TRS had supported all initiatives taken up by the NDA government from GST to demonetisation as well as the election of the President and Vice-President. That the TRS supported simultaneous polls when a majority of parties were opposed to it proved beyond doubt that it and the BJP were one and the same.

“State BJP leaders take out yatras criticising the TRS and KCR. KCR and KTR get Modi’s appointment within hours while others struggle for months and years. Central ministers come to the state and praise KCR. This is all nothing but a drama enacted by Modi, Amit Shah and KCR to mislead the people," Mr Ravi said.

The Congress on Monday held a ‘Bharat Bachao Rally’ in Hyderabad against the alleged anti-people policies of the BJP government at the Centre.

Congress activists tried to lay siege to Pragathi Bhavan to protest IT minister K.T. Rama Rao calling AICC president Sonia Gandhi ‘amma, bomma’ but were stopped by the police. AICC TS affairs incharge R.C. Khuntia said the TRS and the BJP had entered into a secret pact to fight the Congress in 2019.

Cops halt bike rally by Congress
South Zone police on Monday stopped Youth Congress activists from taking out a motorcycle procession to welcome National Youth Congress leader Keshav Chand Yadav and vice-president B.V. Srinivas who came to the city to attend the party's Bharath Bachao Andolan.

“We cannot allow motorcycle processions in the city, mainly cause of possible law and order problems and traffic disruptions. I can assure that the South Zone area will never witness a motorcycle rally,” said DCP South Zone V. Satyanarayana.
