RK Roja Criticises Chiranjeevi's Remarks on AP Govt Targeting Film Industry
TIRUPATI: Tourism minister R.K. Roja has criticised actor Chiranjeevi for his comments regarding state government’s “undue focus on film industry”. She advised Chiranjeevi to refrain from discussing political matters on cinema platforms.
Speaking to reporters here on Wednesday, the minister said if Chiranjeevi wants to advise, he should offer guidance to his younger brother (Jana Sena party chief Pawan Kalyan).
“Chiranjeevi should concentrate on advising his own family members, rather than involving himself in matters of governing the state,” she remarked.
Roja questioned Chiranjeevi's record during his tenure as Union minister. She accused him of not taking any substantial action for the benefit of the state when he had the opportunity.
The minister maintained that the government is not obligated to heed the opinion of individuals from the cinema industry. In this context, she referred to members of Telugu film industry approaching the state government for raising the price of movie tickets.
Roja's statements follows Chiranjeevi's suggestion that state government prioritise issues such as special status for AP, infrastructure projects, employment opportunities and poverty alleviation.
