The government wants to put down political violence with a heavy hand irrespective of the political affiliations of trouble makers.
Thiruvananthpuram: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has convened an all party meeting on November 21 to discuss peace initiatives in the wake of escalation of political violence in the state.
The all party meeting will discuss measures to be undertaken in areas affected by violence especially in Kannur, Alappuzha and Thiruvananthapuram. The chief minister is keen on taking all political parties on board to evolve a consensus on the steps to be taken to curb violence.
The government wants to put down political violence with a heavy hand irrespective of the political affiliations of trouble makers.
The government is planning a crackdown on violent workers to send across a message that none indulging in violence would be tolerated. The move is also aimed at forcing the RSS and BJP leadership to take similar steps to rein in their violent cadre. Sources said if the BJP leadership failed to cooperate with peace efforts, then they would be exposed politically.
