Revanth dares KCR to seek CBI probe into purchase of MLAs, MPs' charges

Kamareddy: TPCC president A. Revanth Reddy dared Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao to demand a CBI inquiry into the ‘purchase’ of MLAs so as to unravel the truth of who had done so, after filing his nomination papers from Kamareddy and setting up a big fight on November 30.

He was responding to Rao, who had asked Kamareddy locals how they would vote for Revanth Reddy who was caught with Rs 50 lakh to buy MLAs. Revanth Reddy said that, on the contrary, it was Chandrashekar Rao who had purchased 40 MLAs, two MPs, 12 MLCs, and numerous elected representatives of local bodies.

Meanwhile, Reddy filed his nomination papers for the Kamareddy seat on Friday. He was accompanied by Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and senior party leader Mohammad Ali Shabbir.

Later, addressing a public meeting where the party unveiled its ‘BC Declaration’, the TPCC chief said that Chandrashekar Rao had replaced a legislator from the Backward Classes, Gampa Govardhan, to contest the Kamareddy seat.

‘If I contest from any constituency, Congress activists will work for my victory. Determined to defeat KCR, I chose Kamareddy as per the directives of our high command. The people of Kamareddy are eager to defeat KCR and teach him a lesson”, he said.

Revanth Reddy claimed that after having “cheated” locals in the Gajwel constituency for over 10 years, the Chief Minister had migrated to Kamareddy. He wondered why for someone who said that he was fond of the ancestral village Konapur, Rao had remained silent when two debt-ridden farmers from Machareddy and Lingampet died by suicide.

AICC Telangana in-charge Manikrao Thakre, TJS president Prof. M. Kodandaram, CPI secretary K. Narayana, former MP V. Hanumantha Rao, Shabbir Ali and others spoke.

Congress candidates from Kamareddy, Nizamabad, Siddipet, and Medak districts were present.
