Update: 2023-11-10 16:32 GMT

Adilabad: Some candidates are seeking the blessing of gods and goddesses by performing Yagam to gain extra power for fighting the assembly elections in the erstwhile Adilabad district.

Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao performed a three-day Rajashyamala Yagam at his farmhouse in Erravalli in Siddipet before filing the nominations. Many candidates followed suit and started performing yaga.

Congress, BJP and BRS candidates are performing special pujas before they file nominations or before the start of their election campaign. Congress leader K Premsagar Rao performed Chandi, Raja Shyamala and Sudarshana yagam for three days at his house in Mancherial before filing the nomination.

BJP candidate Payal Shankar performed the Rajashyamala Yagam at his house in Adilabad town. BJP candidate Soyam Bapu Rao contesting from Boath performed Shatha Chandi yagam before filing the nomination.

Priests say Shata Chandi yagam will create positive vibrations, neutralise negative forces, overcome obstacles, cleanse the negative energy and ward off evil.

Leaders say they were doing Homam and yagams for the Loka Kalyanam for the well-being of the universe.

Some of the candidates, while performing special pujas, placed their nomination papers at the abode of the gods and goddesses in temples.
