Kamareddy: The Congress promised to provide for Backward Classes (BC) reservations proportionate to their population as established by the caste census findings and BC Commission report within six months of assuming power.

The quota for BC communities in local bodies will be enhanced to 42 per cent from the present 23 per cent while Rs 20,000 crore will be earmarked for the welfare of BC communities annually, said Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah while releasing the BC Declaration of the party here on Friday, a day when TPCC chief A. Revanth Reddy filed his nomination papers.

The party pledged community specific promises to dominant BC communities like Mudiraj, Yadav/Kuruma, Goud, Munnuru Kapu, Padmashali, Vishmakarma, Rajaka and Nayee Brahmin.

Siddaramaiah said that Revanth Reddy would win both Kamareddy and Kodangal with a thumping majority. Chief Minister  K. Chandrashekar Rao’s “ill-gotten wealth” will not help him win elections, he said.

Siddaramaiah predicted that the BJP would win a maximum of five seats in Telangana. Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visits to Telangana would not result in electoral gains for the BJP in the state, he said. “Modi visited Karnataka 40 times during the Assembly elections and wherever he campaigned the BJP candidates lost miserably,” he said.

Siddaramaiah said that in his long political career he had not seen a “bigger liar” than Modi, who has never favourd the Dalit and OBC comminities.

He dared Chandrashekar Rao to visit Karnataka, where the government had implemented its five guarantees. He said that after the Congress cames to power in Telangana, its Six Guarantees would be implemented within 100 days, he said.

People from the OBC, Dalits and minorities communities will be benefited under Congress rule and people should vote for Congress, he said.
