Malla Reddy's kin rams pal with car
Talk on who would win the Medchal constituency, Mr Malla Reddy or his Congress rival K. Lakshman Reddy led to a heated argument.
Hyderabad: A relative of the Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) candidate from Medchal Ch Malla Reddy rammed a sports utility vehicle into a man during an argument over the election results, injuring him badly. His friend reportedly hit another man with a second car during the incident, which occurred on Saturday night.
Shamirpet police said the incident occurred when Mr Malla Reddy’s nephew, Ch Srikanth Reddy, and some others were discussing the likely result in Medchal constituency, from where Mr Malla Reddy is contesting. According to Shamirpet inspector B. Naveen Reddy, the victim, Singireddy Venkatram Reddy, 50, had gone to Thumkunta to condole with his brother-in-law Raghuveera Reddy following a death in his family. Venkatram Reddy was accompanied by his brother Madhusudan Reddy, 45.
“Srikanth Reddy also went there to meet Raghuveera Reddy. They had lunch together during which the talk veered to who would win the Medchal constituency, Mr Malla Reddy or his Congress rival K. Lakshman Reddy. This led to a heated argument between them during which Srikanth Reddy, Raghuveera Reddy and two others attacked Madhusudan Reddy,” said Inspector Naveen Reddy.
When Venkatram Reddy tried to rescue his brother, Srikanth Reddy allegedly drove his Fortuner SUV into him with at high speed.
Venkatram Reddy sustained severe injuries to the right side of his face and his right leg was fractured, Shamirpet inspector said.
When Madhusudan Reddy tried to help his brother, Raghuveera Reddy allegedly dashed him with his car. Madhusudhan sustained an injury to his right hand.
Despite his injury, Madhusudan Reddy shifted his brother to Yashoda Hospital in Secunderabad, in a 108 ambulance where he was admitted for treatment. Based on the complaint from Venkatram Reddy, the Shamirpet police registered a case on Sunday and started investigations.
