Kamareddy: BJP legislator Katipally Venkataramana Reddy said that Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy should cleanse the Congress party inside out before embarking on other aspects of administration.

He cited the example of former energy minister Mohammad Ali Shabbir, who has engaged two government employees, Naik and Shabaj, in his residence for the last 18 and 15 years, respectively. The energy and minority welfare departments are paying their salaries, even though Shabbir Ali has been out of power, he said.

Speaking to reporters at the BJP district office here on Sunday, Reddy said that corruption in the state’s power utilities are to the tune of an astounding Rs 80,000 crore. The role of Transco and Genco CMD D. Prabhakar Rao and others should be probed, he demanded. ‘I have full information on power purchase agreements by the previous BRS government’, he said.

He welcomed Revanth’s initiative to unearth irregularities in power utilities. If elected representatives pressurise bureaucrats, they are bound to commit irregularities, Reddy said.

Shabbir Ali was defeated seven times, but he used two government employees for his personal service and misused Rs two crore of public money to pay them their salaries. The Chief Minister should initiate stern action against the culprits, he demanded.

Revanth Reddy will work honestly and leave his mark in administration, he said.

‘I am ready to give complete information about the corruption that exists in the energy department, right from the manufacture of transformers to collecting bribes from farmers’, he said.

The Kamareddy MLA said that Revanth Reddy should go on field visits to get first-hand knowledge about the round realities as regards the functioning of the energy department.
