Stick to GO. while filling up vacant posts: HC to SCCL
GO 34 was issued in 2010 by the state government to provide employment to the displaced persons belonging to the ST community
HYDERABAD: The Telangana High Court has directed the Singareni Collieries Company Ltd (SCCL) to strictly adhere to the stipulations of GO 34 of 2010, in filling of 665 posts of badli workers, as per the notification issued by it, in 2017.
GO 34 was issued in 2010 by the state government to provide employment to the displaced persons belonging to the Scheduled Tribe community (ST), when their land was acquired for mining activities by the SCCL.
Adivasa Samkshema Parishad had approached the High Court and complained that the SCCL was not following the GO 34. The petitioner said though the displaced persons were belonging to ST category, the SCCL issued fresh notification in 2017, for filling of posts of badli workers by some other community. They also mentioned that the High Court had earlier ordered the respondent company to give appointments to them, which was upheld by the Supreme Court also.
However, the SCCL argued that already 260 displaced persons of ST category were appointed as per GO 34, but the petitioners did not come in that zone. Considering the contentions of both sides, the court directed to follow the terms of GO 34 in filling of posts.
