M Mallikarjun Kharge to PM Narendra Modi: Prove charges against Jawaharlal Nehru
Congress Lok Sabha leader M. Mallikarjun Kharge on Saturday asserted that he would quit public life if such statements are proved.
HOSAPETE: Taking strong exception to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s remarks against the late prime minister Jawaharlal Nehru, Congress Lok Sabha leader M. Mallikarjun Kharge on Saturday asserted that he would quit public life if such statements are proved.
Speaking at the Congress party’s ‘Janaasheervad Yatra’ here, Mr Kharge said “Mr Modi has spoken against Jawaharlal Nehru in his speech in Parliament. Let him prove his statements with facts or stop lying. If he proves his statement with facts, I will quit politics immediately.”
Mr Modi, in his speech in Parliament, had said that Jawaharlal Nehru’s policies were responsible for present day problems in Jammu and Kashmir.
Training his guns against the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh and the Bharatiya Janata Party, Mr Kharge charged that the RSS never had any respect for Babasaheb Ambedkar.
“Both the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh and the Bharatiya Janata Party never had respect for Babasaheb Ambedkar. The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh even to this day has not installed Dr Ambedkar’s photograph in their offices. Their’s is only lip sympathy when it comes to Dalits,” he charged, adding that the Congress has embraced Dr Ambedkar and his philosophy in the truest sense.
“The Congress has been practicing from the bottom of its heart to uplift the poor and downtrodden, whereas the Bharatiya Janata Party helps only the rich whenever it comes to power but lures Dalits prior to elections,” he added.
