Won't give money for votes: Captain Vijayakanth

The DMDK chief is contesting from Ulundurpet Assembly constituency, shifting from the neighbouring Rishivandiyam seat.

ULUNDURPET: In true filmy style, DMDK chief Vijayakanth took a pledge before the deity at a temple here that he would neither give money for votes or receive cash for exercising the franchise in May 2016 elections.

Mr Vijayakanth, his wife Premalatha, brother-in-law L. K. Sudheesh and other family members went to Sri Lakshmi Narasimhar Thirukkoil in Parikkal near here and offered prayers there.

After performing a special pooja, Mr Vijayakanth took a pledge before the deity that he would not give money for votes this election and that he would not take money for votes. The DMDK released photographs of Mr Vijayakanth taking the pledge at the temple in Ulundurpet.

Vijayakant is here to canvass votes for him for the May 16 assembly elections. The DMDK chief is contesting from Ulundurpet Assembly constituency, shifting from the neighbouring Rishivandiyam seat. Vijayakanth taking pledge on money for votes coincides with thousands of people taking the same pledge in various locations across the state.
