Supreme Court rejects Telangana plea in Miyapur land case
The bench stayed the order of the single judge bench and the orders of the tahasildar.
Hyderabad: The Supreme Court on Friday refused to intervene in an interim order passed by the Telangana HC with regard to the sensational Miyapur land case.
A bench comprising Justice Ashok Bhushan and Justice K.M. Joseph dismissed two special leave petitions moved by the state government challenging an interim order granted by a division bench of the High Court on April 1. The interim order had stayed the cancellation of registration of General Power of Attorney (GPA) with regard to the Miyapur lands.
The High Court had directed the state government and the petitioners, Suvishal Power Generation Limited and Mr P.S. Parthasarathy, to maintain status quo till further orders with regard to the land in question in the appeals. They had filed two appeals questioning the cancellation of the registered GPAs by the Serilingam-pally tahsildar.
Earlier a single judge bench had dismissed the plea of the appellants on the grounds that the matter is sub-judice before the Supreme Court, and upheld the action of the tahasildar.
Aggrieved by this order, the petitioners moved the division bench. The bench stayed the order of the single judge bench and the orders of the tahasildar. The state government then moved the Supreme Court.
The SC while dismissing the special leave petitions of the state government observed, “It shall be open for the petitioner to request the High Court for deciding the appeal on an early date.”
