TPCC calls meet to decide its candidates
While it awaits the EC response, the TPCC has decided to finalise the candidates.
Hyderabad: The TPCC will hold a meeting of party seniors on Saturday to discuss the selection of candidates for the Legislative Council elections, though the party is confident that the Election Commission will postpone the polls based on its complaint.
The TPCC is demanding that the elections be held with the new zilla and mandal parishad territorial committee members, as several Congress members have joined the TRS. The Congress hopes it will win more seats in the ongoing elections.
While it awaits the EC response, the TPCC has decided to finalise the candidates. In Nalgonda district, Mr Komatireddy Rajagopal Reddy resigned as MLC after he won from the Bhongir Assembly seat. In Warangal district Konda Murali resigned as MLC before joining the Congress from the TRS. TPCC sources said the tickets to the two seats will have to be given on the suggestion of Mr Rajagopal Reddy and Mr Murali.
For the Nalgonda seat, a member of the Komatireddy family or TPCC chief N. Uttam Kumar Reddy’s wife Padmavathi may contest. TPCC treasurer Gudur Narayana Reddy is also being considered. For the Rangareddy seat, former MLA Malreddy Ranga Reddy and P. Rammohan Reddy are in the running.
TPCC President N. Uttam Kumar Reddy will preside over the meeting. AICC general secretary and Telangana congress affairs in-charge R.C. Khuntia, CLP leader, TPCC working presidents, former PCC presidents, former union and state ministers and many others will attend the meeting.
