BJP accuses BRS of laxity in controlling terror, takes jibe at MIM
HYDERABAD: BJP leaders alleged that the police, particularly in the city, were not being given a free hand to control terror cells. They accused the BRS government of deploying the police intelligence network to keep a watch on the activities of opposition political parties and their leaders.
Senior BJP leader and Rajya Sabha member Dr K. Laxman, addressing a press conference on Thursday, said that one of the accused in the Hizb-Ut-Tahrir (HUT) arrests in the city was working at a college owned by a prominent AIMIM leader.
“In many instances of terrorist activity, the roots have been found in Hyderabad. This should come as no surprise as the AIMIM leaders have said in the past that the steering wheel of the state government is in their hands,” he said.
“This government must explain why it ignores these facts. Terror and terror outfits must be put down with an iron foot and political party affiliations and relations should not come into the picture,” Dr Laxman said.
He demanded that the government immediately take steps to save farmers facing a crisis of crop losses due to unseasonal rains, and that services of junior panchayat secretaries be regularised immediately.
“The BRS government has made it a habit to suppress any protests or voices raised against it. This must stop,” he said.
