KURNOOL: Telugu Desam state secretary Y. Nageswar Yadav on Saturday blamed the ruling YSRC government for failing to ensure continuous nine hours of power supply to the agricultural sector in the state.

Addressing media here on Saturday, he underlined that as the current power supply is bad, TDP will stage protests in various parts of the Kurnool district demanding better electricity supply for farmers.

Nageswar Yadav said though the then leader of the opposition Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy promised farmers nine hours of free power, he has failed to implement the same as Chief Minister.

He charged that one reason for this is the YSRC government purchasing sub-standard power equipment from Kadapa MP Y.S. Avinash Reddy's Shirdi Sai Electricals, despite paying the company ₹2,624 crores. Due to the faulty equipment, power cuts are frequent. Even when supplied, the power is of low voltage, he underlined.

The TD leader said in the name of true-up charges, the Jagan government has imposed a burden of ₹3,669 crores on 1.47 crore families of the state, apart from 14.65 lakh commercial and 1.63 lakh industrial consumers.

He further said each farmer is having to pay ₹30 every month as customer charges, which is quite burdensome for poor farmers.

State secretaries Nandyala Nagendra and Pothuraju Ravikumar, Telugu Yuvatha vice president Somisetty Naveen Kumar and state TD legal cell general secretary Chandrasekhar were among those present.
