ANANTAPUR: The Rajiv Marg and Rajiv Park inauguration by Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy in his home turf of Kadapa on Monday gained special attention as the YSRC government has avoided a change in these names, unlike what it did with other entities in AP in the past.

The Jagan Mohan Reddy-led government had changed the names of several existing installations and schemes by renaming them after former chief minister late Y.S. Rajasekhar Reddy since its assumption of power in 2019.

The government had, in special, changed the name of NTR Health University to YSR Health University. But, Jagan Mohan Reddy’s native district headquarters of Kadapa would retain the name of Rajiv Gandhi for the park and the connecting road.

The CM, during his three-day tour of the district on the occasion of his father Y.S. Rajasekhar Reddy’s birth anniversary, inaugurated the renovated road towards the existing park, which has also been renovated.

A YSRC leader from Kadapa said, “We felt the old park and its connecting road with Rajiv's name need no change.”
