Visakhapatnam: Expressing his love for Visakhapatnam city and how it made him into a great film personality, Jana Sena chief Pawan Kalyan has blasted the YSRC government for “destroying this beautiful city.”

The present government turned it into a abode for land grabbers as also the drug and mining mafia, he said and urged the people to free Vizag from the ‘monstorous’ YSRC government.

Addressing party supporters, his fans and followers as a part of the third phase of his Varahi Vijaya Yatra at Jagadamba centre, Pawan Kalyan said he would fight till the YSRC was defeated.

He said the YSRC government destroyed beautiful Rushikonda, a natural creation that stopped tsunamis and tidal waves. “Jagan Mohan Reddy is also responsible for large-scale pollution in the city. He also mortgaged 120 acres of prime government lands including that of Circuit House for '25,000 crore. Nobody knows where the money has gone,’’ Pawan Kalyan said.

Regarding Andhra University, he said it has become the YSRC party office with the vice-chancellor forcing college principals to campaign for the YSRC in the MLC elections. Due to his negligence, the university rank fell from 29 in 2019 to 76 in 2023, the JS chief said.

“Hostel bills have gone up, some departments have been closed and it has become a place where security personnel are selling ganja and liquor. I will inform the Union HRD ministry to see that some action is initiated against this vice-chancellor,’’ Pawan said.

He also added that by promising complete prohibition, Jagan Mohan Reddy earned '30,000 crore through liquor.

“Jagan Mohan Reddy is not a political leader but a businessman more concerned about the percentage of commission he earned in every deal he struck. From a habit to addiction, earning money has become an obsession for Jagan Mohan Reddy now,’’ he said.

Admiring the volunteers, he said it was unfortunate that Jagan Mohan Reddy brainwashed them to collect data from people the way Hitler brainwashed his fellow Germans to hate the Jews.

Earlier, the police imposed severe restrictions on his meeting and suggested a change of route from the airport to Jagadamba junction.
