VIJAYAWADA: AP Planning Board vice-chairman Malladi Vishnu has alleged that Telugu Desam chief Chandrababu Naidu was responsible for the arson in Punganur and he is trying to divert attention from the issue by demanding a CBI inquiry.

“As CM, Naidu did not allow the CBI into AP state. Now, to use this as a political weapon, he is demanding a CBI probe. No matter how much restraint the police showed, the opposition leader caused the riots in a pre-planned way.”

The MLA said it was a shame that the Telugu Desam leaders are talking about cancelling the houses allotted by the government if they come to power.

He dared that if Chandrababu had courage, he should come to the assembly and discuss the issues. In the name of visiting projects, Naidu was creating unrest across the state, he said.

Vishnu said it was only for commissions that Naidu volunteered to implement the national status project Polavaram. Naidu wanted to use it as an ATM, he said.

Speaking to the media during the launch of 13 culvert construction works in the Vijayawada Central constituency at a cost of Rs 12 lakhs on Thursday, the MLA asked how many houses were allocated to the poor during the TD term.

Vishnu said Rs 843.53 crore was saved with reverse tendering after the YSRC government came to power.
