V Pugazhendhi of AMMK to join AIADMK
Pugazhendhi said he would be meeting Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami, soon and thereafter the date of joining AIADMK would be announced.
SALEM: Amma Makkal Munnetra Kazhagam (AMMK) Karnataka unit secretary V. Pugazhendhi said he and his supporters would join the parent party - the ruling AIADMK, and sought an apology from the people for supporting AMMK founder T.T.V. Dhinakaran.
Speaking to reporters here after holding a meeting with his supporters, Pugazhendhi said he and his supporters have decided to return to the AIADMK. The hard work of thousands of cadre had gone waste in the past two years as AMMK failed to register itself as a political party, he said. “Dhinakaran cannot function (as a leader) and believing him was a disappointment,” he said.
Cadre across the State have decided to quit the AMMK and join the AIADMK, he claimed, and added that a resolution to thiseffect was passed in the meeting.
Pugazhendhi said he would be meeting Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami, soon and thereafter the date of joining AIADMK would be announced. He would focus only on Tamil Nadu politics henceforth.
He took a dig at Dhinakaran, and said that there is no “sleeper cell” in the AIADMK as claimed by the AMMK leader. Most of them had left AMMK, he added.
