Andhra Pradesh: Telugu Desam eyes YSRC MLAs to induct into the party
The TD has leaked that 25 YSRC MLAs are joining.
Hyderabad: After being hit by defections in Telangana, the ruling Telugu Desam in Andhra Pradesh is eyeing YSR Congress MLAs to induct into the party.
The TD has started playing mind games with leaks to the media that at least 25 YSRC MLAs are joining the party in AP. YSRC, meanwhile, has vehemently denied the defections and alleged that channels favouring TD are airing these news.
Several YSRC MLAs have also said that they are with their leader Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy and warned of filing defamation suits for spreading rumors.
On Thursday six MLAs in Prakasam district met Mr Jagan Mohan Reddy at Santamaguluru and said that they were not joining TD.
YSRC MLA Mr Uppuleti Kalpana from Pamarru said, “Jagan is a rising sun and Naidu is setting. Those who want to have a political future will stay with Jagan,” Prakasam district YSRC MLA Gottipati Ravi Kumar, who belongs to the Kamma community said, “We won because of Jagan and we will be with Jagan.
TD has resorted to this campaign only to divert attention from Telangana.” Madugula MLA Mutyala Naidu from Visakhapatnam also said that he would not leave the party. Nuzivid MLA Mr Meka Pratap Appa Rao said, “TD is a sinking ship. Who will joint it? Even If they want to buy me I will not join TD.
” YSRC MLA Mr Srikanth Reddy said, “TD has shut its shop in Telangana. To divert attention, TD and the yellow media together are resorting to this mind game.”
Meanwhile, Vijayawada YSRC MLA Jaleel Khan, who met minister Devineni Umamaheswara Rao on Thursday, said, “I met him regarding development works in my constituency. I will not be leaving YSRC.”
