WARANGAL: Telangana state, which was formed for fulfilling aspirations of people with regard to water, funds and jobs for locals, is yet to derive these benefits, as Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao’s claims of providing water to people of the state is the biggest scam, charged CLP leader Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka.

Speaking to reporters at Kaleshwaram on Friday, he said even after spending Rs 1.15 lakh crore, Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Project (KLIP) has not provided water to even an acre of land.

“KLIP is a huge scam of TRS government. TRS redesigned the irrigation projects only to loot public money. The state could have saved thousands of crores had it gone ahead with earlier Congress government’s proposed plan of lifting water from Tummidi Hatti,” Bhatti remarked.

He accused the CM of being concerned only about benefitting himself and contractors. “They are yet to complete construction of distributary canals under KLIP. Still, KCR is presenting a colourful but false picture to people that farming taking place in Telangana is due to KLIP. This is how the Chief Minister is cheating people,” the CLP leader explained.

MLA D. Sridhar Babu and MLC Jeevan Reddy were among those present at the press conference. Earlier, Bhatti and other Congress leaders offered prayers at Kaleshwara Mukteeshwara Swamy temple.
