Hyderabad: YSR Congress party president Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy is confident of a landslide victory in Andhra Pradesh.

“People bade goodbye to the demonic rule of Chandrababu. Fearing defeat in the election, Naidu is stooping to the lowest level by pointing fingers at the inefficiency of the Election Commission and even tried to obstruct the polling to reduce the percentage and also humiliated the AP CEO,” Mr Reddy said.

With AP seeing a high voter turnout of 80 per cent, Mr Reddy who returned to his residence in Hyderabad, thanked voters for exercising their right in such large numbers.  “Mr Naidu tried every trick in his book, from attacking the EC to using violence, to threatening voters and officials to blaming EVMs. All his attempts to obstruct polling and bring down the percentage failed. The 80 per cent turnout of voters has saved democracy,” Mr Reddy declared.

Answering a question on Mr Naidu writing to the EC for a re-poll, Mr Reddy said, “Voters through the VVPAT can know which party they have voted for. There is 100 per cent clarity. How can Naidu call for re-polling unless one is overpowered by a sense of defeat? Chandrababu Naidu’s intention was to bring down the percentage of polling. Fortunately, people did not fall into his trap and have protected democracy.”  He predicted a landslide victory for his party.

He conveyed his sympathies to those who lost their lives and blamed the TD cadre for causing unrest.  Two  YSRC workers died in the violence, one in Anantapur and one in Chittoor district.
