Karnataka CM, PWD Minister Dr H C Mahadevappa in sonrise' quest
The CM had already made his intentions of seeking re-election from Chamundeshwari, leaving Varuna for his son.
Bengaluru: To ensure a smooth debut for their sons in the 2018 Assembly polls, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and PWD Minister Dr H.C. Mahadevappa are silently doing the groundwork ahead of the polls.
Already, the CM has declared that his son, Dr Yatindra Siddaramaiah will contest from the Varuna seat which is currently held by him. Similarly, the PWD minister is silently promoting his son, Sunil Bose as the Congress candidate in Nanjangud replacing Mr Kalale Keshvamurthy who got elected in the recent by-polls. The state government had already started pumping in crores of rupees for development projects in Varuna and Nanjangud to ensure the victory of Dr Yatindra and Mr Sunil. Besides, both Mr Siddaramaiah and Dr Mahadevappa are spending more time to prepare the ground for their sons’ entry into Vidhana Soudha. Interestingly, Mr Siddaramaiah and Dr Mahadevappa have got their sons appointed as chairmen of vigilance committees to select beneficiaries of housing schemes and also got them to 'officially hold review meetings with officials. This nomination came in handy for the duo in the absence of their 'political mentors'.
The CM had already made his intentions of seeking re-election from Chamundeshwari, leaving Varuna for his son.
Sources close to Dr Mahadevappa told Deccan Chronicle that sitting Nanjangud MLA, Kalale had been reportedly asked not to demand the ticket in the coming elections it had been reserved for Mr Sunil. Sources said Sunil is spending most of the time touring Nanjangud and meeting voters. It was said that he had a final say in finalizing the beneficiaries for state and central governments housing schemes. The PWD minister is also reportedly renewing his old contacts in Nanjangud for the benefit of his son..
As far as Dr Yatindra is concerned, sources said the CM will get his son the ticket and move to Chamundeshwari in 2018. The CM had announced Rs 300 crore worth schemes for Varuna and Nanjangud and is personally monitoring them for completion before December this year.
After the demise of Rakesh Siddaramaiah last year, it had become inevitable for the CM to promote Dr Yatindra in state politics.
