Hyderabad: PCC chief A. Revanth Reddy told party cadre not to take the full name of their former colleague Komatireddy Rajgopal Reddy, who left the Congress and joined the party. They should refer to him as RG Pal, which will make it sound like K.A. Paul, the evangelist-turned-politician.

The advice came during a preparatory meeting held at Gandhi Bhavan for the Munugode bypoll. Revanth Reddy said the shortened version of the name was to be used in private conversations as well as in public meetings. Those who took the full name of the former MLA would receive a showcause notice, he said.

The heads of different party wings who attended the meeting were asked to ensure the party not only retained the constituency but did so in a manner that created panic among the rivals.

Speaking briefly with the media, he repeated his charge that the BJP and the TRS had a tacit understanding. “How come the Speaker was quick to accept the resignation of Rajgopal Reddy. Why is there so much urgency being shown for these polls?” he alleged.
