Quit, quit! BJP ups ante against KJ George

Bengaluru: The state BJP, which appears to have woken up from its slumber,  will not only distribute rice to over 2000 families in Bengaluru to mark the birthday of Prime Minister Narendra Modi on September 17, but also hold a state- wide agitation the previous day  to demand the resignation of Bengaluru Development Minister,  K.J. George over the suicide of Dy.SP, M.K. Ganapathy.  

Announcing this here on Monday, the party's state chief, B S Yeddyurappa,  hit out at Chief Minister Siddaramaiah for objecting to the staff of universities being told to compulsorily hear the speech of the Prime Minister delivered to mark the 125th anniversary of Swamy Vivekananda's speech in Chicago in 1893. Accusing him of behaving like an "anti-Hindu,"  he advised him to clarify which religion he belonged to.

Mr Yeddurappa , who was speaking to reporters, also underlined that  Minister George, could not  remain in office while  the CBI inquiry was underway into the  the suicide of officer Ganapathy, who had accused him of harassment before killing himself.

"He must resign from the Cabinet. Our party will hold a dharna on September 16 in Bengaluru and all district centres to demand this," he  said.

Asked about the  documents he had promised to release against Ministers of the Siddaramaiah government, he claimed he was in the process of collecting them "We have  asked for some documents through RTI, but the government is blocking our efforts. But we are confident we will  be able to release the documents," he asserted.

Coming down heavily on the Chief Minister for failing to come to the rescue of areas battered by the recent rains in Bengaluru, he noted that the deluge of the last week had left properties damaged in some part of the city.  "The state government has entirely failed to provide  security to the people ,who have been suffering due to the heavy rain of the last few days," he regretted.
