ADILABAD: Many unpopular mandal-level leaders are also seeking BJP tickets in their respective assembly constituencies for the upcoming polls as there is “no fee” for filing an application.

Another reason why these leaders are applying for tickets is, it is said, that some supporters of the strong contenders want to indirectly help their leaders by creating a “favorable situation” for them while the party decides its candidates.

The party's state leaders asked a few leaders to apply for the party tickets, so as to send a strong message to the people that there was a good demand for BJP's tickets this time, unlike in the past. This would send out the signals that the BJP stood a chance to win the assembly polls.

There is high competition for BJP tickets in Khanapur, compared to other assembly constituencies in the erstwhile Adilabad.

In Adilabad assembly constituency, party district president Payal Shankar, state executive committee member Suhasini Reddy and town president Jyoti Reddy, Lala Munna Jaiswal, Rathnakar Reddy, Adinath, Bhargav, Mohan Agarwal, Gatika Kranti, Dhone Jyoti, Santosh Reddy and Lanka Srinivas have also applied for BJP ticket.

Nearly 15 aspirants applied for BJP tickets from Adilabad.

BJP Adilabad town president LM Jaiswal hoped that the party's high command would recognise his and his brother former Adilabad municipal chairman late Lala Radhe Shyam’s contributions to the party and give him a ticket this time.

Former Adilabad MP Rathod Ramesh and his son Ritesh Rathod, Satla Ashok, Indravelli ZPTC Arka Pushpalatha, Hari Naik and Janu Bai,  Raghuram Naik of Sirikonda are reportedly among those seeking tickets.

In Sirpur (T) assembly constituency, BJP state executive committee member Palvai Harish Babu, party district president Kothapalli Srinivas, Mali Sangam state president Lendugule Shyamrao and district secretary Konga Satyanarayana are seeking tickets.

Kotnak Vijay, Athmaram Naik,  Kumra Vandana, Ritesh Rathod and others applied for a ticket from Asifabad.

Adilabad MP Soyam Bapurao did not apply for an MLA ticket from any constituency and he may contest the Lok Sabha polls in the changed political scenario.

Ritesh Rathod of Khanapur said more candidates applied for the party tickets from their respective assembly constituencies since there was no fee and some unpopular leaders also applied for ticket if only to get some publicity for them.
