Limkheda (Gujarat): Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of helping hoarders of black money to convert it into white money with his “unilateral and whimsical”: demonetisation.

Addressing a large gathering of rural and tribal people in Limkheda town in central Gujarat’s Dahod district, Gandhi asserted: “Modiji realised that ordinary people and small businessmen had not been completely crushed by note ban. So he brought GST. “This is the Gujarat model. This is achhe din, but for Modiji and Shahji, not for rest of the country,” he said.

He then assured the people, amid huge applause, that “achhe din aa rahen hain (Happy days are coming). Aur jab Congress power mein aayegi, tou aapke mann ki baat sunegi (When Congress comes to power, it will listen to you what you want).”

Earlier....Striking an emotional chord in Vadodara, the Congress scion said, “I will tell you something personal. My father was killed by Tamil Tiger Prabakaran. When Prabakaran was killed and I saw his body, I didn’t know why but I felt very sad and guilty. I told Priyanka that I felt sad after seeing Prabakaran’s body and she also said the same. She also felt sad at his murder, his son’s murder.” “These are my family values. We know what it means to face murder and killing,” Mr Gandhi said.

Seeking to revive the Congress’ fortunes in the state where the BJP holds sway, the Congress leader also visited a temple and fed grass to a cow, in gestures loaded with symbolism.
