Congress says GST rejig was due to pressure by Rahul Gandhi

The main opposition party on Saturday took credit for GST Council's decision.

New Delhi: With the Centre rushing in to offer relief on GST by removing 178 items from the 28 per cent slab, former finance minister and Congress leader P. Chidambaram took pot shots at the government saying that elections in Gujarat had done what Parliament and common sense could not. 

The main opposition party on Saturday took credit for GST Council’s decision, saying that the Government was forced to do a rethink owing to pressure mounted by its vice-president Rahul Gandhi.
