TIRUPATI: The Telugu Desam faced a significant setback in Chittoor district as its long-time leader in Palamaner, Subhash Chandra Bose, quit the party on Monday. Chittoor is the home-turf of party chief Nara Chandrababu Naidu.

Bose, a key figure in the party since its inception, announced his decision during a meeting with his supporters in Gangavaram. Bose said he faced neglect and disrespect from the TD leadership.

"Despite my four-decade-long association with the party, I have faced continuous insults," he said.

Bose referred to the entry of former minister N Amarnath Reddy into the TD as a turning point in his relationship with party chief Chandrababu Naidu. "Since Amarnath joined the party, I have been ignored by Chandrababu," Bose claimed.

“Naidu appointed Amarnath to a ministerial post while ignoring my contributions to the party. I sought a piece of land for setting up my bus service centre in the Palamaner industrial area during Amarnath's tenure but my request was overlooked. I had supported Amarnath in the 2019 elections," Bose said.

“But, under the YSRC rule, I approached minister Peddireddy Ramachandra Reddy and he helped me get the land," he said.

Bose also expressed his disappointment with the TD leadership's shifting loyalties. "Lokesh, who once referred to me as a tiger now hailed Amarnath Reddy as a tiger during the Yuvagalam padayatra. The injustice meted out to me and my well-wishers in the TD has left me with no choice but to part ways with TD," he added.
