Kerala CPM insists on Balram apology

Palakkad: The CPM on Friday  took out a rally to the MLA office of V.T. Balram at Thrithala protesting against his Facebook remark on communist icon A.K. Gopalan.

CPM district secretary C.K. Rajendran, who spoke,  said that the CPM was not keen on getting an apology from Mr Balram.  “The people of Thrithala constituency  should decide on the matter in the next elections,” he said.

“The communists love their party leaders more than their family members. Hence, they will react strongly against Balram for such remarks.  Our ministers and workers will boycott his events,”  Mr Rajendran said.     The protest was blocked by the police 50 metres  from the MLA office using barricades.

Chandran triggers row

CPM state committee member M. Chandran triggered a  controversy by stating that Mr  Balram’s tongue would be cut off if he makes statements against CPM leaders.   Mr Chandran allegedly made the threat  at the protest march taken out by the CPM.

He also dared Mr Balram to speak against party  veteran V.S. Achuthanadan in the state Assembly.

Palakkad DCC president V.K. Sreekandan said that after verifying the speech, the Congress  would file a police complaint against  Mr Chandran.
