Telangana Congress to woo Goud community
The Congress always gave importance to the Goud community and nominated its members to various posts.
Hyderabad: TPCC president N. Uttam Kumar Reddy promised socio-economic and political empowerment of Goud community if the Congress was voted to power in 2019.
At a public meeting organised by Telangana Goud Sangham, Mr Reddy said the Congress and the Goud community had been together for decades. The Congress always gave importance to the Goud community and nominated its members to various posts.
He said if voted to power, the Congress would provide 5 acres of land to each of the nearly 8,000 toddy tappers’ cooperative societies. In case government land was not available, it would be purchased from private persons.
He also promised that on the lines of Gujarat and Kerala, toddy would be taken away from the excise department and made part of Village Khadi Board. He added that the licence period for toddy sale would be doubled to 10 years.
