Kakinada MLA wants IKB participants to give up benefits
Kakinada: Kakinada MLA Dwarampudi Chandrasekhara Reddy on Thursday advised those participating in Telugu Desam’s Idemi Karmara Babu (IKB) programme not to have double standards.
Speaking to media, the legislator maintained that one must not protest against the very programmes that they are benefitting from.
“There is nothing wrong in TD launching a protest programme, as Chandrababu Naidu is making efforts to preserve himself in state politics. Telugu Desam cadres can also participate in the protests. But, they should first surrender the benefits they are enjoying under several schemes, such as Amma Vodi, pensions to the elderly people, fees reimbursement and so on. They do not have the moral right to condemn the government while enjoying the benefits,’’ Dwarampudi contended.
He maintained that the TD president had not launched a single welfare scheme as his own brand. Rs. 2 a kilo rice scheme is the brand of the late N.T. Rama Rao.
Aarogyasri and fee reimbursement are brands of late chief minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy. Amma Vodi and several other schemes are brands of Jagan Mohan Reddy.
“Can TD cadres name one welfare scheme launched by Chandrababu Naidu,” the Kakinada MLA asked.
