Bhubaneswar: Sunil Bansal, the BJP in-charge for Odisha, appears to be working overtime to activate the sluggish party’s state unit, ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha and Assembly elections.

Sources in the party said Bansal, who is credited for bringing the Yogi Adityanath to power for the second time in Uttar Pradesh in 2022, has asked all the top leaders to bury the hatchet and work unitedly to defeat the ruling Biju Janata Dal.

On Friday afternoon, Bansal held a meeting with the senior leaders of the party’s state unit and discussed with them a “special strategy” for the upcoming elections. BJP state president Manmohan Samal, Union minister Dharmendra Pradhan, Bhubaneswar Lok Sabha member Aparajita Sarangi and many other senior leaders of the representatives of election management committees were present in the meeting.

The sources said that discussions were held about the visit of central leaders to different parts of the state for election campaigning.

“Several rounds of meetings with different wings of the party were held on Friday with regard to election management.  A special team in Odisha will be formed which will look after the joining of workers in the party from the booth level to state level,” said Odisha BJP president Manmohan Samal.
