AIADMK MLAs to meet to discuss Budget session
The all-powerful Governing Council of the AIADMK will also meet the same day to decide on the candidate for the byelection to RK Nagar constituency.
Chennai: AIADMK MLAs will meet here on Wednesday on the eve of the convening of the Budget Session of the Tamil Nadu Assembly to discuss the strategy to be adopted during the sitting.
The all-powerful Governing Council of the AIADMK will also meet the same day to decide on the candidate for the byelection to RK Nagar constituency.
The MLAs will meet on Wednesday evening at the party headquarters on the Avvai Shanmugam Salai under the leadership of Chief Minister Edappadi K Palanisami and T T V Dinakaran, the deputy general secretary of the AIADMK.
“MLAs meet has been convened to finalise the strategy to be adopted during the Budget Session. The CM and the deputy general secretary will brief them on countering allegations of the opposition party and other issues,” a source said.
The AIADMK has the support of just 122 MLAs, just four more than the magic number of 118 and the party is very clear on educating its MLAs on the way they should counter statements from the principal opposition party, the DMK. While the party has 134 MLAs, 11 legislators owe allegiance to former chief minister O. Panneerselvam and one MLA has taken a neutral stand.
Meanwhile, Mr Dinakaran again targeted Opposition Leader M K Stalin for calling the AIADMK Government as “proxy” of VK Sasikala and asserted that the party will win the RK Nagar bypoll.
