Mangaluru: Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai claimed that the Congress party lacked capable candidates in several constituencies, making it unlikely for them to come to power in the upcoming elections.

“The Congress has no proper candidates in 60-65 seats. So they have named candidates for only 160 constituencies. Till now they have failed to declare candidates for all the constituencies. Now they are in the process of importing candidates. This means Congress does not have capable contenders. There is no question of them coming to power in this election,” Bommai said.

He also expressed confidence in resolving differences within the BJP, stating that senior leaders are currently talking to disgruntled members and that the differences will be resolved soon.

“The second list has been released. There are still 12 constituencies left,” he added.

Commenting on the party switching in politics, Bommai said the party will convince those who are unhappy. "The resentment in the party is being rectified. The workers are strong, so there will be no harm. Internal bickering will be sorted out,” he added.

Regarding Laxman Savadi's unhappiness, Bommai expressed confidence that the issue would be resolved.

"Savadi is a senior leader and has been in politics for many years. He also has the responsibility of maintaining the confidence of his supporters and people. It may take some time but I am confident that the problem will be settled,” he added.

In response to MLA Nehru Olekar's allegations of a Rs 1,500-crore scam, Bommai challenged him to provide evidence.
