Guntur/vijayawada: BJP leaders, led by MLC Somu Veerraju, demanded suspension of Chittoor SP for the failure of the police department to provide adequate protection to BJP national president Amit Shah. Wearing black badges the protesting leaders met DGP M. Malakondaiah and submitted a memorandum of their demands to AP police headquarters at Mangalagiri on Saturday. Mr Veerraju and other leaders claimed that the police failed to restrain TD leaders and activists who had taken the law and order in their hands and violated all security norms.
They alleged that attacks on BJP leaders were increasing with each day in Andhra Pradesh with government support and TD violating all norms to carry physical attacks on BJP leaders. They demanded suspension of Chittoor SP for his failure to restrain TD attack on Mr Shah and further protection to BJP leaders in AP.
Mr Malakondaiah stated that no attacks were carried Mr Shah’s vehicle, but the attack was carried on the seventh vehicle in his convoy. He said that police arrested one person after the attack, a case was registered and an investigation was on. He assured that action would be taken against police officials if they were found to be negligent towards discharging their duties.
Earlier a big rally was held by BJP in which BJP leaders and activists participated in large numbers wearing black badges protesting the attack on Mr Shah.
Meanwhile, DGP M. Malakondaiah has stated that there was no stone pelting happened at Tirupati, at the time of Amit Shah visit. He has clarified that only a person has hit the seventh car in the convoy with a stick. That person was taken into custody and a case was registered, the DGP has explained.
Both BJP and TD have filed complaints against each other, we are investigating the case, Malakondaiah has informed. If any faults found with Police personnel there, definitely, we will take action, he has clarified.
No attack on Amit Shah, claims TD

Mr Babu also claimed that people of Andhra were seeking the defeat of the BJP in the Karnataka Assembly election because of the way it had cheated their state.
Addressing a press meet at Guntur on Saturday, Mr Babu said that BJP MP Mr G.V.L. Narasimha Rao had threatened TD but added that TD was not afraid of him or his false statements and also said that the TD had the total support of the people.
