Bengaluru: The alleged rigging of Electronic Voting Machines has raised its head in the city, leading to the Election Commission deciding on a repoll in booth number 158 of the Hebbal Assembly Constituency.

Earlier in the day, Congress leader Mr Brijesh Kalappa claimed that all votes in RMV 2nd Stage,  Bangalore North, were being registered in favour of BJP. This, he said on Twitter, was happening irrespective of which button the voter pressed.

“There are five booths opposite my parents’ apartment at RMV II Stage, Bengaluru. In the second booth, a button pressed registers a vote only to kiwi mele Kamala, i.e. Kamal ke phool. Angry voters are returning without casting their vote.”

He added that his own vote was in the same booth and that INC will take up the issue with the Election Commission.  Another Twitter user, however, raised objection to Mr Kalappa’s claims.

He tweeted in response that no malfunction was taking place in the booth concerned as he too, had caste his vote there. However, the Election Commission decided on a repoll in booth number 158.  Repeated attempts to reach Mr Brijesh Kalappa went unanswered.
