OTTAPIDARAM: The Amma Makkal Munnetra Kazhagam (AMMK) founder TTV Dhinakaran is contesting in the election not to win, but to defeat the
MGR-launched AIADMK by helping the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK), said Tamil Nadu Chief Minister, Edappadi K Palaniswami, here on Sunday.

Canvassing for the AIADMK party candidate P Mohan here, that is going to by-poll on May 19, Edappadi in his second round of campaign on Sunday lashed out at the former Ottapidaram MLA, Sundararajan, of forcing by-election on the people by defecting to the dissident, TTV Dhinakaran’s side, to topple the AIADMK
government established by ‘Amma’.

Further complaining that Dinakaran has a hidden agenda with the DMK, Edappadi added that Dhinakaran’s party had fielded candidates in the election not to win, but to help Stalin and the DMK to defeat the AIADMK, which, the Chief Minister said was the party that brought him (TTV) to prominence in the first place.

During his campaign at Chekkarakudi village, the Chief Minister was requested by the party women’s wing to cut a cake to celebrate his 54th birthday. Accepting the party cadres’ request, Edappadi Palaniswami celebrated his birthday and named a girl child ‘Jayalakshmi’ in the memory of former Chief Minister, J Jayalalithaa.
